Live at Levitt

Anyone who’s low on funds but would still like to have a good time this summer should check out Arlington’s new Levitt Pavilion. The venue is beautiful, located in the new and improved Center Street area. Every night this summer, they’re hosting free concerts with local bands.

Levitt Pavillion

We went to see jazz band Snarky Puppy from UNT and everything was perfect, even besides the music, which jazzed my face off. People get into the show and dance, talk, tap their feet, whatever. The concerts start at 8 p.m. as the sun is setting (jazz + sunsets = sooo poetic!), and you can bring your own chairs, food and drinks — just no glass. Check out their full schedule here.

Dad’s Day Out

If you’re trying to celebrate your favorite dad without spending all your favorite money, check out these cheap and fun ways to spend Father’s Day. He’ll have fun and it won’t make you any less cheap than buying him tube socks and a tie.

Head down to Bahama Beach in Dallas, a small waterpark without all the Hurricane Harbor crowds and high prices. Dads get in free on Father’s Day with the coupon on their website.

If he’s a little too grown up for the waterpark, take dad to Dollar Hot Dog night at the Ballpark this Wednesday. The Rangers are actually winning games this season, and he can load up on all the hot dogs he wants–all on your tab. Click here for all the Ranger promotions this season.

If he’s a big music fan, take your lawn chairs, blankets, and dad to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden for one of their concerts in the garden, with music from the amazing Fort Worth symphony. Saturday, June 19 is Elvis tribute night. Just sayin’. Tickets are $16 in advance. Click here for the full schedule.

Etsy Bash

Hopefully chances of rain won’t ruin the first day of May in Dallas and the annualĀ  Spring Bash, a collection of Etsy Dallas artists hocking their handmade items.

Admission is free, and there’s a DJ, food and booze. Sounds like a good crafty time to me. Check out their website to view artists who’ll be at the party and make a wish list before you go.

Happy Fryday

In case you’re still not full after hitting up every Cinnabon in town yesterday, go to Jack in the Box and get free fries. Who knows why this is happening, but it is, so don’t question anything. Their website says the Fryday is to celebrate their new fry recipe, but they look and most likely taste exactly the same, i.e. nothing like the picture.

free fries

They're just giving them away now. EVERYONE loves curly fries.
