Houston’s Austin-town
I have given Houston a chance, and liked living here but I was delightfully surprised to explore the most Austin part of this town last weekend. After a short trip to Christy’s donuts & kolaches–the place that always serves me cheap deliciousness with a smile–we headed over to vintagy thrift store row on Westheimer.
Between Sheperd and Montrose, you can find antique shops, cute trendy restaurants packed with people and resale/vintage shops mixed in with expensive boutiques in true Houston fashion.
My favorites are Buffalo Exchange, also an Austin favorite, and Taxi Taxi. I have to admit, the girls selections seem much better than the guys but if you’re looking for an old pair of cowboy boots and a pair of whitewash jeans you will be in hipster heaven.
Though these aren’t the cheapest of thrift stores, you can easily find a bargain among the racks. I got a blouse for $10 and yellow shorts for $12.
